Minister Nathi Mthethwa to honour the late Canadoce “Can” Themba

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa, will on Saturday, 30 September 2017 unveil the tombstone in honour of the late Daniel Canadoce “Can” Themba. The former teacher and scholar worked as a reporter and editor at Drum magazine. His works, including “The Suit”, has worn him much acclaim and several awards including the Drum Award in 1953. In September 2006, former President Thabo Mbeki awarded Themba the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver for “Excellent achievement in literature, contribution to the field of journalism and striving for a just and democratic society in South Africa.”
