Minister Mthethwa to host post budget vote sectoral engagement with Creative Industries at Iziko Museum, Cape Town

The Arts and Culture Minister, Nathi Mthethwa together with his deputy, Ms Maggie Sotyu will on Thursday, 10 May 2018 host post-budget vote sectoral engagement with Creative Industries at Iziko Museum in Cape town.

The sectoral engagement will amongst others reflect on 2018/19 budget vote presentation; outline overall department’s budget plans and strategy; explore challenges and opportunities within the Arts, Culture and Heritage Sector, as well to discuss skills development and training, and sustainability of the cultural and creative industries.

As part of the Africa month programme of activities under the theme, “The Year of Nelson Mandela: Building a Better Africa and a Better World!, the engagement will also serves as a platform to celebrate our African Identity and promote nation building and social cohesion, cultural exchange, integration, as well as unity and solidarity. The event will also showcase some of the most exciting local and African fashion, décor as well as other craft and textiles through vibrant exhibitions from the continent to encourage markets and networks amongst designers and creatives in particular.

Our national treasure, a living legend and indigenous music maestro, Mama Madosini will collaborate with the Algerian troupe for a thrilling performance to celebrate the centenary of mama Albertina Sisulu, a liberation struggle stalwart.
