The Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor, will on behalf of the Government of the Republic of South Africa, sign Visa Waiver agreements with the Benelux States (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg), Italy, Panama and Spain.
Visa waiver agreements are signed between two countries with a view to enhancing economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.
In this regard, the following agreements will be signed between South Africa and the governments of Italy, Panama and Spain and the Benelux States:
- Benelux (Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg): Agreement between the Government of the Republic of South Africa and the Governments of the Benelux States on the Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic, Official and/or Service Passport holders
- Italy: Agreement between the Government of the Republic of South Africa and the Republic of Italy on the Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Valid Diplomatic and Service or Passport Holders
- Panama: Agreement between the Government of the Republic of South Africa and the Government of the Republic of Panama Concerning Reciprocal Exemption from Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic, Official, Consular and Special Passports
- Spain: Agreement between the Government of the Republic of South Africa and the Government of the Kingdom of Spain regarding Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic Passports.
The countries, South Africa is signing agreements with, will be represented by their respective ambassadors, namely:
- His Excellency, Mr Johan Maricou, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium;
- His Excellency, Mr Andre Haspels, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands;
- His Excellency, Mr Vincenzo Schioppa, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy;
- His Excellency, Mr Rodrigo Guilermo Chiari Alvarez, Ambassador of the Republic of Panama
- His Excellency, Mr Juan Sell Sanz, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain.
