Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa will give a key note address at the official opening ceremony of Moshito Music Conference and Exhibition that will take place on Friday, 05 September 2014 at Auckland Park SABC Campus in Johannesburg.
This year 2014, Moshito Music Conference & Conference the theme: “Celebrating 20 years of liberation through music”.
This prestigious music market, Moshito Music Conference is funded by the Department of Arts and Culture to enhance the role of the industry in economic development, job creation, poverty alleviation and socio-cultural development.
The Moshito Conference has become one of the leading sources of information and engagement for the music industry in South Africa. Moshito has established itself as a platform where diverse music industry players share insights, network and tackle various issues varying from piracy to intellectual property. It also benefits local music practitioners through focusing on intra African co-operation and by tapping into the expertise of some of the world’s most successful stakeholders in the industry.
The conference programme also includes a live music showcase for up and coming musicians. In strengthening Intra-African Cooperation and Trade, delegates will enjoy a Congo Day on Friday, which will showcase music performances and cultures of the people from the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville).
The Department of Arts and Culture provides support in line with its Mzansi Golden Economy strategy which promotes job creation and seeks to increase the contribution of arts and culture to sustainable economic development.
