Minister Kubayi undertakes oversight visit to OR Tambo District

Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi, will lead a delegation to OR Tambo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape from 23-24 August 20202, as part of oversight following storm disasters. 

The Minister will be joined by the MEC of Human Settlements, Siphokazi Lusithi and the District Executive Mayor, Cllr Mesuli Ngqondwana.

The visit to local municipalities, including Mhlontlo, Ingquza Hill and Port St Johns, is aimed at ensuring the rapid rollout of necessary humanitarian interventions for over 2000 affected homes. It will further provide an opportunity to engage with the effected communities, whose homes were either partially or completely damaged and a platform to provide feedback on government interventions to date.

The Minister’s return to the Eastern Cape follows other similar visits to areas such Enqonqweni in Berlin, Kei Rd, and Mdantsane in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
