Media briefing on Independent Power Producers and Power Purchase Agreements Deadlock and Update

The Minister of Energy, Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi invites the media to a media briefing on the update and progress made with regards to the signing of the Independent Power Producers (IPP’s) and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA’s).

The purpose of the briefing is for Minister to a give details on the outcome of the consultation of stakeholders in the pending IPP PPA signing ceremony. The briefing will also address key issues of energy security, accessibility and affordability in the context of economic recovery of the country. It will also reflect on the role of renewables in the broader growth of the energy sector as well as context of energy mix policy.

The Independent Power Producers Programme is implemented in pursuant to the Ministerial Determinations as per Section 34 of Energy Regulation Act of 2006 as well as in line with the promulgated integrated Resource Plan.
