Minister Mildred Oliphant addresses Ngwelezane community on lack of economic opportunities, 14 Aug

South Africa’s Labour Minister, Mildred Oliphant is to deliver a keynote address when she visits the township of Ngwelezane on the outskirts of Empangeni, in KwaZulu-Natal.

The visit by Oliphant follows an outcry from the Ngwelezane community about a lack of economic opportunities.

The key message from the Minister is to express the government’s readiness to assist to meet the National Development Plan’s 2030 goals.

The “Youth Imbizo” will focus on the discussion of youth unemployment, information sharing on Department of Labour services, bursary opportunities, career guidance, the lack of economic opportunities experienced by communities and inadequate economic participation.

A number of stakeholders are expected to participate in the Imbizo and there will also be exhibitions from local municipality, SETAs and government departments.
