Minister Mbalula, MEC Maile and MMC Vondo give their 67 minutes for Mandela

The Minister of Sport and Recreation South Africa, Minister Fikile Mbalula together with the Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, MEC Lebogang Maile and the MMC of Sport, MMC Community Development Chris Vondo will carryout a massive Mandela Day programme at the Krematart Park in Eldorado Park Extension 2, as part of the build up to the Nelson Mandela Sports and Cultural Day.

This will see the Minister, MEC and MMC Chris Vondo leading in giving their 67 minutes in honour of the world icon Nelson Mandela. Among others they will volunteer their services by painting the local Andries Meyer Old Age Home adjacent the Krematart Park.

They’ll be joined by the Springboks and Bafana Bafana players, soccer legends and other celebrities who’ll all be there to land their hand in improving the lives of the targeted communities.

Besides painting, the Home will also receive appropriate sporting equipment as part of government’s Active Ageing programme. Also to benefit is the local crèche across the Old Age Home which will receive children’s books as part of the Born to Read programme. The Minister will also hand over sporting gear and equipment to 10 identified schools (primary and secondary) within Eldorado Park and the surrounding areas.
