Minister Lindiwe Sisulu delivers keynote address at an event to honour Advocate George Bizos
Minister of Human Settlements Lindiwe Sisulu, MP, will on Saturday, 04 November 2017 deliver a keynote address at the South African Hellenic Federation’s Excellence Awards.
The highlight of the evening will be the South African Greek community honoring community Stalwart and long-time Human Rights lawyer and activist, George Bizos, as he approaches his 90th birthday. Advocate Bizos, was one of the lead defense lawyers in the Rivonia trial, where amongst others, the late Ahmed Kathrada and Nelson Mandela.
Minister Sisulu will be joined by visiting Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Mr Terens Quick in honouring Advocate Bizos.
The annual South African Hellenic Excellence Awards also serve to present Awards and Medals in the following categories to South African of Hellenic origin:
- Certificate of Service
- Certificate of Excellence
- Medal of Service
- Medal of Honor (Which will be presented to Bizos)
As part of her participation, Minister Sisulu will draw on her friendship between the Sisulu and Bizos families in highlighting cultural diversity and nation building in our country, in line with the 1955 Freedom Charter.
