Minister Lechesa Tsenoli to discuss implementation of SIP 7

Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Lechesa Tsenoli, will on 7 February 2013 convene a forum of mayors; municipal managers and engineers in South Africa to discuss redressing spatial planning challenges through the implementation of Strategic Infrastructure Project (SIP) 7.

SIP 7, which is chaired by Minister Tsenoli and managed by the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa is one of 18 infrastructure projects identified by the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission to, among other things, support urban development and promote the development of an integrated transport system.

The project focuses its service delivery on twelve major urban areas where most the country’s urban population resides (Johannesburg, Cape Town, eThekwini, Tshwane, Buffalo City, Ekurhuleni, Mangaung, Mbombela, Msunduzi, Nelson Mandela and Polokwane).
