The Minister for Small Business Development, Ms Khumbudzo Ntshavheni brings funding closer to communities through local pitch for funding initiative – Northern Cape
The Minister for Small Business Development, Ms Khumbudzo Ntshavheni will be participating in a community funding initiative (Pitch for Funding) in the Northern Cape province in January 2020. Pitch for Funding is an effort to provide entrepreneurs an opportunity for accelerated access to funding by pitching their business ideas to a panel of experts for immediate decision on non-financial and financial support.
The Pitch for Funding also extends the reach of the Department to access more entrepreneurs who otherwise do not have capacity to access funding and support opportunities on their own. The programme will be rolled out throughout the country jointly by SEDA and SEFA and the dates will be communicated by the Department.
The Pitch for Funding sessions also provides a great platform for South African owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to become part of a community of like-minded entrepreneurs and enable them to create a network of suppliers and partners.
The Minister believes SMMEs provide a critical base for economic growth and job creation through their agility, innovativeness and creativity. The government believes in the role of SMMEs in transforming the economy for inclusive ownership and participation.
