Minister Joe Phaahla leads delegation to high-level meeting with United States President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), 22 Feb

Government meets PEPFAR, Stakeholders over SA`s HIV response

Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla will on Thursday, 22 February lead the country`s delegation of stakeholders in the health sector to the high-level meeting with the global leadership of the United States President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) under the stewardship of Ambassador Dr John Nkengasong to discuss the South Africa`s response to HIV/AIDS epidemic to save lives.

Some of the critical topics to be discussed include renewal of political commitment toward policy reforms, identification of new actions to address HIV prevention and treatment gaps, opportunities for further acceleration and shared understanding of epidemic in South Africa, and key barriers to be resolved to achieve 95-95-95 targets.

Some of the attendants will include US Ambassador to South Africa Rueben Brigety, SANAC CEO - Dr Thembisile Xulu, leadership from Global Fund, CAPRISA,  SAMRC, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the local civil society forum.

Members of the media will have an opportunity for media doorstep with Health Minister Phaahla and Dr John Nkengasong.
