Minister Jeff Radebe unpacks National Development Plan at Unisa lecture, 30 Sept

The Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning, Performance, Monitoring, Evaluation and Administration and Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, the Honourable Jeff Radebe, carries, amongst others; the responsibility to ensure that the National Development Plan (NDP) is understood and implemented accordingly in government, the private sector and across all other sectors of society.

As part of the advocacy mandate, Minister Radebe will deliver a public lecture on the NDP titled: ‘National Development Plan, Vision 2030: Its Impact on the Development of Good Governance’, hosted by the University of South Africa (UNISA) through its School of Governance.

Since its adoption as the official blueprint to guide the future social and economic development of the country leading to 2030, the NDP has increasingly become the buzzword in the national discourse. However, very few people in the country understand the rationale behind the plan, what and how it seeks to help the country realise the goals that have been set and, most importantly; the role of the citizenry in the development and advancement of good governance as an important aspect towards the growth of democracy. Key questions that need to be answered are: ‘What role does the NDP play across all sectors of our society and how does it promote good governance?

The media is invited to attend and cover the public lecture.

Date: Wednesday, 30 September 2015
