Minister in the Presidency for Planning Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Jeff Radebe will tomorrow 12 August 2015 sign the National Youth Policy 2020 (NYP2020). The NYP 2020 is a set of goals and commitments by government in advancing youth development.
The policy which was extensively consulted was adopted by the executive cabinet will be signed at a ceremony in Cape Town to mark International Youth Day.
This the United Nations will celebrate International Youth Day with under the theme "Youth Civic engagement". The National Youth Policy was consulted with young people who engaged with government on their needs interests and aspirations.
It is also in recognition of the similar opportunities and challenges faced by the youth around world that the National Youth Policy is signed on this significant day.
Minister Radebe will then hand over the signed policy to Deputy Minister Buti Manamela who has the responsibility of oversight and mainstreaming of youth development.
