Minister of Home Affairs to address BRICS Eastern Cape Provincial roadshow in East London

Media is advised that the Eastern Cape BRICS Provincial Roadshow, which was scheduled for Thursday-Friday 7-8 March 2013 in East London has now been postponed. A new date will be announced as soon as new arrangements have been finalised.

Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor is expected to join the Premier of the Eastern Cape and Ambassadors from BRICS countries during the Eastern Cape provincial roadshow scheduled from 7 to 8 March 2013 in East London.

The participation of Minister Pandor in the Eastern Cape Provincial Roadshow comes within the context of a series of events planned by the government as part of a build-up towards the BRICS Summit scheduled for later this month at the ICC in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal province. Minister Pandor is a member of the Inter-Ministerial Committee tasked with the responsibility of co-ordinating the programme and ensuring the successful hosting of the fifth Summit of BRICS by South Africa.

“BRICS is a platform for dialogue and cooperation amongst countries that represent 43% of the world’s population, for the promotion of peace, security and development in a multi-polar, inter-dependent and increasingly complex, globalising world. Coming from Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America, the transcontinental dimension of interaction adds to its value and significance” BRICS –Delhi Declaration.

As part of the Eastern Cape Provincial Roadshow, Minister Pandor is expected among others to visit strategic anchor projects within the East London IDZ areas, address students and academia at the Walter Sisulu University’s Portsdam Campus as well as participate in discussions focusing on the Orientation of BRICS (opportunities and benefits), eastern Cape Provincial marketing opportunities.
