The Minister of Science and Technology, Derek Hanekom, has been invited to the annual general meeting of the National Science Deans' Forum on 5 April 2013 from 14h00. He will talk about Department of Science and Technology flagship projects like the centres of excellence, the South African Research Chairs Initiative and the Square Kilometre Array.
The National Science Deans' Forum is made up of the deans of science faculties at all South African universities and universities of technology. It was established in 2006 to create a network for sharing policy information across the science higher education sector; to create a national platform to interact with government through liaison with the DST, the Department of Higher Education and Training and the Department of Basic Education; and to develop strategies to advance science in South Africa and the SADC region.
