The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwede Mantashe (MP) will officially open the annual African Energy Week conference on Tuesday 17 October 2023 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
African Energy Week is the continent’s most impactful and largest energy gathering, with more than 4000 delegates expected to participate in discussions on matters related to oil and gas exploration and production, hydrogen, renewable energy, finance and infrastructure.
African government officials, together with continental and international energy companies will discuss the critical role of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) in advancing the global energy transition, while addressing the unique challenges faced by African nations in ensuring energy security, poverty reduction and industrialization.
South Africa will host a country spotlight session focusing on the energy availability factor, the future of coal in the green economy and unlocking the potential of gas as a transition fuel.
