The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Gugile Nkwinti together with all Ministers responsible for outcome 7 and their Deputy Ministers will do a walkabout at Springbokpan to determine the readiness of the site. Springbokpan site has been identified as one of 44 sites that would be used as Agri Parks.
The Departments responsible for outcome seven include Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF), the Department of Cooperative Governance (DoCG), the Department of Social Development (DSD), the Department of Water Affairs (DWA) and others. The goal of Outcome 7 is to create vibrant, equitable and sustainable rural communities. It had been used as a vehicle to fast track service delivery in rural areas.
Three Agri Parks have been identified for the province of North West.
The Department has identified economically viable sites in all 27 priority districts across the country for the construction of Agri-Parks and R2 billion has been set aside for this agri-park initiative, of which 1% will go into capacity building especially in municipalities.
