Minister Gugile Nkwinti unveils mobile Land Claims Offices, 14 Apr

The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Mr Gugile Nkwinti will unveil mobile lodgement offices that will be dispatched to remote areas of South Africa for the processing of land claims, at the Parliamentary precinct, 120 Plein Street on Tuesday, 14 April 2015.

The mobile offices are specially equipped vehicles fitted with technology to process applications for land clams on site. A total of four busses and two all-terrain 4x4 trucks will be deployed to the identified communities over the next four year period ending in 30 June 2019. This initiative is part of efforts to improve access for those individuals and communities wishing to lodge land claims in far flung parts of our country.

To ensure that a maximum number of potential claimant communities are reached, the Commission on Restitution of Land Rights has acquired the mobile lodgement offices to travel around the country to receive claims, in addition to the 14 Lodgement offices situated in all 9 provinces.

Minister Nkwinti will be joined by the Members of the Portfolio Committee on Rural Development and Land Reform on a guided tour of the mobile lodgement offices.
