Minister Gugile Nkwinti hosts Geo-spatial Experts in Mowbray, 23 Mar

Rural Development and Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti will be hosting geo-spatial experts from more than eight International Cartographic Association (ICA) on Monday, 23 March 2015 in Mowbray, Cape Town. The countries that will be participating include Sweden, Austria, Hungary, Brazil, Netherlands, USA, Indonesia, and Australia.

South Africa’s mapping organisation, National Geo-spatial Information (NGI), a component of Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR), will be observing the International Map Year in Mowbray, Cape Town. The South African government has endorsed South Africa’s participation in the celebrations of International Map Year, a brainchild of International Cartographic Association (ICA).

The International Map Year is a worldwide celebration of maps and their unique role in the world, which is supported by the United Nations and it provides opportunities to demonstrate, follow, and get involved in the art, science and technology of making and using maps and geographic information.
