Minister Gugile Nkwinti electrifying farm dwellers households and handing over title deeds at Umngeni Municipality

The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Mr Gugile Nkwinti in partnership with KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Finance, Ms Ina Cronjé and uMngeni Municipality Mayor, Cllr Mbali Myeni, will on Saturday, 19th January 2013 at Yaroow Primary School Sports ground, hand over title deeds to uMngeni Municipality claimants in a bid to reverse the 1913 legacy through land restoration.

This initiative will also include the official handing over of Karkloof electricity projects which has seen more than 266 connections for uMngeni Municipality communities including farm dwellers at the cost of R 4.6 million.

The municipality was identified because of its poverty and lack of much-needed basic services such as lack of water, housing problems and lack of electricity. Electrification is one of several projects that uMngeni has been promised. All community villages proposed for electrification within the uMngeni Municipal area have been electrified and energised. The projects are aimed at poverty alleviation.
