Minister Mbalula inspects new trains

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula will this Friday, 8 November 2019, visit the multi-billion rand, train-manufacturing factory at Dunnottar Park in Nigel, Gauteng.

The Minister’s visit will be preceded by a ride on one of the new locally produced trains, from Piennarspoort to Pretoria Station.

Upon arriving at the factory, Minister Mbalula will be joined by the Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni Mzwandile Masina, to inspect the manufacturing, assembling, testing and commissioning of new trains.

Members of the Media are invited to join the procession. Details are as follows:

Phase 1 – Piennarspoort to Pretoria Station:

04:30: Members of the procession park their vehicles at PRASA House in Tshwane and travel to Piennarspoort Station, onboard PRASA vehicles.
06:00: Procession boards the train at Piennarspoort Station and travels to Pretoria Station.
07:00: Procession disembarks the train and travels from Pretoria Station to the Nigel factory onboard PRASA vehicles.

Phase 2 – Nigel Factory tour

08:00: Arrival & Refreshments
08:30: Wearing of protective gear / Presentation on the Factory
09:30: Factory Tour
11:00 Media briefing       
12:00 Return to PRASA House
