Minister Fikile Mbalula officially launches National Taxi Lekgotla Public Discourse platform, 20 Aug

The Minister of Transport, Mr. Fikile Mbalula will this Thursday, 20 August, launch the National Taxi Lekgotla Public Discourse platform.

The Taxi Lekgotla Public Discourse aims to create a platform for sustained momentum and public engagement towards the National Taxi Lekgotla, planned to take place at the end of October 2020.

The Public Discourse Platform launch will lay the foundation for engagement by stakeholders and civil society on the future of the taxi industry as the largest mover of people in the country; sharpening perspectives in conversation with industry players and opinion-makers on best practices in formalizing, regulating and empowering the taxi industry.

This launch, which will be followed by the release of discussion papers and a structured roll-out of round table discussions in provinces, serves as a precursor to nationwide provincial Makgotla and the national Taxi Lekgotla.

All recommendations coming from provincial Taxi Makgotla will be the subject of further robust engagement and culmination into the National Taxi Lekgotla.
