The Minister of Communications, Ms Faith Muthambi, will host an Imbizo in Gugulethu, in the Western Cape Province on Friday. The Imbizo will give the community of Gugulethu and surrounding areas the opportunity to raise challenges facing youth development programmes and initiatives in the area.
The Minister will be accompanied by representatives from the Department of Communications, Brand SA, the Film and Publication Board (FPB), Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) as well as the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). All of these entities will showcase their services to the young people who will attend this event.
“The youth are encouraged to rise up and play an active role in their local communities and in developing the economy through entrepreneurship. Young people are at the heart of the National Development Plan, the collective blueprint for a society where all South Africans will flourish,” says Minister Muthambi.
Government departments and agencies such as the National Youth Development Agency, the Department of Arts and Culture, the Department of Education and Department of Social Development will also be rendering mobile services during the Imbizo.
