Warrenton gets face lift as Transport Minister delivers New Bridge in the Northern Cape

Transport Minister, Honourable Dipuo Peters will officially open the Warrenton Town Bridge in the Francis Baard District of the Northern Cape on Saturday, 15 February 2014.

The new bridge provides for two-way traffic, with shoulders, as well as for pedestrians and cyclists by means of sidewalks, separated from the trafficed lanes by concrete parapets, on either side.

The project forms part of the government’s national rollout of key infrastructure and is of specific relevance as Warrenton serves as an economic centre of regional significance.

Such projects form part of governments plan to provide services to and uplift communities.  The new bridge has been constructed to accommodate high levels of river flow in accordance with SANRAL’s design criteria.

Joining the Minister during the official opening of the Bridge will be Northern Cape Premier, Her Excellency Sylvia Lucas, Northern Cape Roads and Transport MEC Mac Jack, Francis Baard District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr Moloi, Magareng Local Municipality Mayor Cllr Manopole, SANRAL CEO Nazir Alli, senior national, provincial and Municipal officials, key transport stakeholders, members of the community and the media.

Date: Saturday, 15 February 2014.

Venue: Magrieta Prinsloo Street, Rest Area Warrenton Bridge, Warrenton.

Time: 10h00
