Transport Minister Honourable Dipuo Peters opens interchange in honour of struggle veteran

Transport Minister, Honourable Dipuo Peters will officially open the Dr. Chota Motala Interchange in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Saturday, 22 February 2014 in honour of the struggle veteran.

In recognition of the late Dr Motala’s contribution to better the lives of the disadvantaged people of South Africa in general, and Pietermaritzburg in particular, Minister Peters will open the first, multi-level flyover, multi-million rand interchange which straddles the N3 freeway as a major access route to the Pietermaritzburg central business district and suburbs.

The interchange, which has proven to be a major boost for motorists and commuters for eliminating traffic congestion and long delays forms part of the government’s national rollout and delivery of key and much needed infrastructure.

During the official opening of the Interchange, the Minister will be joined by KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Senzo Mchunu, KZN Transport, Community Safety and Liaison MEC Willies Mchunu, the Mayors of Msunduzi and Umgungundlovu, SANRAL CEO Nazir Alli, representatives from the Motala family, senior national, provincial and Municipal officials, key transport stakeholders, members of the community and the media.
