Transport Minister Hon. Dipuo Peters (MP), together with the Deputy Minister of Transport Hon. Sindisiwe Chikunga (MP) and the MEC for Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State Province Hon. Butana Komphela (MP), will be hosting the 2nd Annual Transport Awards on Friday, 30th October 2015 under the theme “Sustaining excellence and innovation beyond expectation”.
The awards strive to recognise excellent performance by transport officials from national and provincial departments of transport, as well as public entities and municipalities.

On Saturday, 31st October 2015 the Minister, the Deputy Minister and MECs from other provinces will host the 2015 October Transport Month (OTM) closing ceremony under the theme: “Together we move South Africa forward”. The key highlight of this event will be a community Imbizo and law enforcement operations that will focus on education especially on child safety.
Transport entities, religious organisations and community based organisations will form part of the 2015 OTM closing ceremony.
The 2015 October Transport Month closing ceremony and community imbizo on road safety will take place as follows:

The 2015 OTM was also used to heighten the implementation of the 365 Days Road Safety Programme. As a result, the law enforcement operations are being heightened at all the major roads to ensure that traffic flow is managed and that motorists and occupants adhere to road safety regulations throughout the year.
