Minister Dipuo Peters attends second United Nations High-Level Global Ministerial conference on Road Safety in Brazil, 18 to 19 Nov

The Minister of Transport Ms. Dipuo Peters is attending the Second United Nations High-Level Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety held in Brasilia, Brazil from 18 to 19 November 2015.

The conference is attended by Ministers from other countries, government officials and NGO representatives. Held under the theme “Time for Results”, the conference presents an opportunity for government Ministers and their partners in decision-making roles to convene and address road safety concerns by sharing knowledge and spur action on what works to prevent the road carnages and improve safety on the roads for all who use them.

Together all delegates will review progress made in the implementation of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 Campaign, define next steps at global and national level to achieve the goal of the Decade of Action to save five million lives, and look beyond 2020 on the urgent action needed to implement the developmental goals related to road safety.

The Transport Minister’s visit to Brazil follows a two-day National Road Safety Summit held in Cape Town (from 13 to 14 November 2015) and the World Remembrance Day (on 15 November 2015) for victims of road crashes.
