Minister Derek Hanekom to launch the Science Centre in the Transport Museum in Majiesfontein

Science and Technology Minister Derek Hanekom will inaugurate a new Science Centre housed in two old train carriages in the Matjiesfontein Transport Museum tomorrow, 10 April 2014.

The Science Centre is an important milestone for various projects, including an integrated seismology network, a space geodesy project as well as getting a Science and Technology Train (S&T Train) on the country’s tracks.

The Minister will also attend the fourth combined S&T Train and Space Geodesy Observatory five-day workshop which started on Monday, 7 April. The workshop is organised by Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and sponsored by the Africa Earth Observation Network (AEON) and Inkaba ye Africa. The aim of the workshop is to bring together all relevant role players and collaborators to evaluate progress in AEON and Inkaba yeAfrica project, and plans and design of new phases of these two initiatives.
