Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula will undertake a one-day working visit to Luanda, Angola, where she will attend the Joint Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) Ministerial Meeting on 2 July 2014.
The meeting, which brings together ministers of the two regional blocs: SADC and ICGLR; will discuss, amongst others, peace, security and stability in the region. The meeting will have a special focus on the internal conflicts and skirmishes in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
According to the official programme, the meeting will be preceded by a meeting of senior officials of the SADC-ICGLR on July 1 2014.
Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula will be accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Department of Defence. The team includes the Chief of the SANDF and senior officials.
