Minister Collins Chabane launches Public Service Month in Soweto, 31 Aug

The Minister of Public Service and Administration (DPSA), Mr Collins Chabane will launch Public Service Month on Sunday, 31 August 2014 at Maponya Mall in Soweto.

The Minister will be joined by the Premier of Gauteng, Mr David Makhura, the Mayor of Johannesburg, Mr Parks Tau, as well as senior officials from the departments of Home Affairs, Labour, National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), Transport and Finance.

Public Service Month is an annual service delivery initiative that seeks to instil and rebuild good ethics, morale and pride in public servants; it also puts emphasis on improving the way public servants work in their quest to deliver quality services to citizens.

Maponya Mall is home to the first Urban Mall Thusong Service Centre, a one stop shop for various essential services provided by government through the departments of Labour, Home Affairs, NYDA, Transport and Finance.

Government adopted the concept of Urban Mall Thusong Service Centres recognising the need to take services closer to where people live with a vision to build many more such as the one at Maponya Mall.
