Tomorrow, Minister of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle, will be awarding the second winner of the Safely Home Road Safety Reward campaign with their R25 000 prize.
The campaign was launched on 17 December 2012 and aimed at rewarding motorists for good behaviour on our roads over the festive season. The initiative is part of a behavioural economics technique aimed at establishing a culture of obeying road rules by promoting an identity of responsible road users.
The Western Cape Government offered a cash opportunity to vehicle owners and drivers who remain fine-free over the festive season, measured from the beginning of December to the end of January. Two cash prizes of R25 000 were on offer to qualifying drivers, drawn at random, from motorists with their vehicles registered in the province. All motorists in the province were automatically entered into the draw, and both winners were drawn from those who meet set criteria and ensured that their details on the National Traffic Information System (eNaTiS) are correct and up to date.
The second winner was drawn on the 21st of January when Mr Cupido (the first winner) was awarded his R25 000 prize.
