Minister Nzimande launches the Wholesale and Retail Leadership Chair
The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr. Blade Nzimande, MP, will launch the Wholesale and Retail Leadership Chair at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).
The Wholesale and Retail Leadership Chair at CPUT was established as a result of the W&RSETA's initiative to contribute towards Research and Qualifications development at higher levels (NQF levels 5-10).
The Chair, being the first of its kind in South Africa and the African continent, is to be a research and academic centre of international standing, with its mission being “to produce world class applied research as well as higher level leadership skills relevant to the wholesale and retail sector”.
The establishment of the Chair is a culmination of negotiations between CPUT and the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA), who collaborated in the establishment, funding and operation of the Leadership Chair in order to enhance industry knowledge production and leadership skills, and to strengthen the industry’s position in South Africa, Africa and internationally.
