Members of the media are invited to join the Minister of Transport, Ms. Barbara Creecy, Deputy Minister, Mr. Mkhuleko Hlengwa, and the PRASA Board and Executive Management on Thursday, 29 May 2025, for the launch of the Chris Hani to Cape Town line, a significant milestone in restoring the Central Line.
This launch follows extensive repair works on stations, substations, and Overhead Traction Electrification (OHTE) systems. The Central Line is the largest commuter rail corridor and one of the key Presidential Lines prioritized for recovery and revitalization. This project is a key initiative to enhance public transportation, promote economic growth, and improve the quality of life for commuters.
