The Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) is hosting the fifth Annual Learners Focus Week, from the 5th - 9th July 2015 at Cullinan, Gauteng.
It has been Government’s concern that skills shortages pose a significant limitation on the country’s long term economic growth potential. Furthermore, global experience shows that the lack of required skills is one the most significant hindrances in developing viable economic opportunities. In order to address these concerns, the DMR will host its annual Learners Focus Week programme for learners from grade 9 -12.
The programme is undertaken in partnership with the Provincial Department of Education, the Council for Geoscience, Mintek, Mining Qualifications Authority, and stakeholders from the mining sector.
The Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources, Mr Godfrey Oliphant (MP) will address the learners at a Gala Dinner.
