The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Candith Mashigo-Dlamini, invites members of the media to the provincial Women’s Day in uPongola Municipality in ward 4 near Itshelejuba Hospital on 22 August 2014.
In celebrating 60 years of Women’s Charter and 20 years of Democracy, the Department will be hosting a provincial Women’s Day function to pay homage to the women of our nation, the mothers, the wives, the sisters and daughters who fought tirelessly against the Apartheid Government.
This year’s commemoration will be hosted by the Deputy Minister for Rural Development and Land Reform, Ms Mashigo-Dlamini, The focus will be on rural women that are involved in food production, arts and crafts, and are yet not known because they are not part of any interest groups like Women in Agriculture and Rural Development (WARD), Widowed Women Of South Africa (WWOSA) or Rural Women’s Movement (RWM). These forgotten women are doing a lot for both community and their households.
