All media are informed that the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Mrs Edna Molewa, will on Saturday 29 June 2013, launch the Strategic Infrastructure Project 18 (SIP 18) on water and sanitation.
The purpose of the SIP as part of the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission (PICC), is to ensure that requisite infrastructure for the delivery of water and sanitation receives the necessary attention and is lifted as such within the Government’s Programme of Action (POA). Minister Molewa will be accompanied by her Cabinet colleagues under the PICC Secretariat led by the Minister of Economic Development, Minister Ebrahim Patel.
Minister Molewa will also on the day commission the BG 3 Rand Water pipeline that will connect the Vaal Dam and Rand Water’s Zoekfontein Canal Control Works. This development is meant to ensure that sufficient capacity is available to meet the ongoing population and economic growth of the country and continent’s major economic hub.
