MECs Nomafrench Mbombo and Debbie Schäfer visit school wellness mobile at Yomelela Primary School, 29 Jan

Tomorrow, 29 January 2019, the Western Cape Health MEC, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, and the Western Cape MEC of Education, Debbie Schäfer, will conduct oversight at the School Wellness Mobile based at Yomelela Primary School in Khayelitsha.

The School Wellness Mobile Project is a successful collaboration with the private sector. This flagship project of the Western Cape Government was rolled out in 2014 as a transversal strategy by the Department of Health and Education, putting life into the Integrated School Health Programme.

To date this project has provided over 400 000 learners access to primary health services at over 3000 school in the metro and rural districts.

The Western Cape Government is extremely pleased that this project has reached so many deserving learners throughout the Metro and in the rural districts.

The health mobiles have been instrumental in taking primary healthcare to children in ‘hard-to-reach-areas’ of this province and has assisted us in ensuring that no child goes through school without having had the necessary health screenings.

Date: Wednesday, 29 January 2019
Time: 10h00 – 11h00
Venue: Yomelela Primary School, Bhemye Cres, Khayelitsha

All media are invited to attend. There will be opportunities for photographs and interviews.
