Tomorrow, Minister Schäfer and Minister Mbombo will visit the School Wellness Mobile Clinic at Impendulo Primary School in Khayelitsha.
Grade R and Grade 1 learners will have the opportunity to use primary health care services available on this mobile. Such services include optometry and dentistry screenings as well as health education .
The Wellness Mobiles for School Health, in partnership with the private sector were rolled out in the Western Cape in 2014.
Many young learners do not have easy access to health services. This project puts improved health in easy reach of children and also contributes to education outcomes by identifying and reducing barriers to learning.
Tomorrow, the Ministers will be doing a walk about of the mobile facility and will be interacting with the young learners that are benefitting from this intervention.
You are invited to attend a media photo opportunity where the Minister of Health, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, and Minister of Education, Ms Debbie Schafer will do an on-site visit to ensure the screenings are running smoothly.
