MEC Capa to visit improved farms in Bedford

Rural Development and Agrarian Reform MEC Zoleka Capa will visit beneficiaries of the department’s livestock improvement and land care programmes that has created at total 190 jobs in the Bedford.

The department had intervened after officials noticed that farmers were overgrazing the veld and there was no control of livestock movement.

An amount of R1,4 million was utilized to fence a total of 35kms to ensure veld management and land care in camps that will cater for 326 livestock owners in the communal area.

Furthermore, the department in partnership with Rural Development and Land Reform is also involved in supporting farmers that occupy Malanskraal, Summerfiled and Haverlock farms.

These farmers specialise in livestock and have benefited from the department’s livestock improvement which seeks to improve the quality of livestock by providing Nguni and Bosmara bulls.

The Hon MEC will also hand-over industrial sewing machine as part of the department’s broad rural development initiative.
