MEC Zoleka Capa to handover sewing machines to Grahamstown communities

MEC for Rural Development and Agrarian Reform Zoleka Capa, as part of the broad rural development initiative will handover industrial sewing machines and sewing material to projects in Grahamstown.

MEC Capa is adamant that to fight poverty people should skilled and the informal textile projects that are already mushrooming in the rural and informal areas in our Province should be formalised and become more profitable.

Since 2010 the department has so far given machines to more than 25 women-led projects across the length and breadth of the province and the programme is one of the flagship programmes of rural development initiatives.

Textile Seta is engaged to ensure quality of the products by providing training to the women.

Members of the media are invited to attend this event, where at least three projects will benefit.
