MEC Tikana will unpack a plan to deal head on with high level of crime at Willowvale
The spate of crime has sent shockwaves through the breath and length of the Province of the Eastern Cape. In Willowvale, murder, housebreaking and robbing of elderly women of their pension money, are the order of the day.
The major contributory factors to this end in the area, include the following:
- Liquor outlets that are problematic;
- High availability of drugs
- Unemployment rate;
- Overgrown vegetation ,which, poses a high risk to villagers; and
- Lack of trust in the South African Police Service by community members.
In this regard, the massive programme will be graced by the presence of Honourable MEC Weziwe Tikana of the Department of Safety and Liaison, Executive Mayor of Mbashe Local Municipality and his Majesty Zwelonke Sigcau King of AmaXhosa and a host of other high profile figures.
