MEC Vadi to participate in Mandela Day activities

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport Dr Ismail Vadi will on Friday, 18 July 2014, visit the Finetown Care Centre as part of Mandela Day activities.

Together with officials from the department, MEC Vadi will donate food parcels, blankets as well as assist with painting of the centre. The centre provides care and support to vulnerable children.

Furthermore, with the assistance of Community-Based and Non-Governmental Organisations in Lenasia, MEC Vadi will also embark on a cleaning campaign at the Lenasia Taxi Rank, Post Office and the Police station.

The cleaning campaign is in support of President Jacob Zuma’s declaration that the area focus for this year’s Mandela Day will be to embark on cleaning initiatives aimed at Keeping South Africa Clean.

MEC will also use the event to highlight the importance of keeping the environment clean, address issues of illegal dumping and littering.
