The MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) FD Xasa will embark on a two day monitoring visit to the Sarah Baartman District Municipality (SBDM). He will be joined by his top management team led by the Head of Department (HOD) Ms Nombulelo Hackula.
Government has introduced variety of platforms in an effort to consolidate, monitor and respond swiftly to public service delivery concerns. In order to fulfil the objectives of Public Participation, MEC Xasa will be visiting the District Municipality from 4 to 5 August 2015.
The visit seeks to strengthen democratic institutions and improve service delivery through the implementation of the Back to Basics (B2B) programme. B2B is a government programme to serve our people and communities better by improving service delivery in municipalities. The five pillars of the B2B programme are putting people first, delivering basic services, good governance, sound financial management and building capable local government institutions.
As part of the outreach programme the MEC will amongst other things, meet with the key Stakeholders such as Ward Councillors, Ward Committees, Community Development Workers and Business Community. He will also hold Political Briefing Session which will be followed by a Back to Basics Meeting on the 5th August 2015.
During the outreach visit, MEC Xasa will also visit, inspect and check the impact of Water Treatment Plant Project situated in the Sundays River Valley local municipality.
