Minister Tertuis Simmers to engage tenants of the Regent Villa social housing project
Tomorrow, 16 March 2021, Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers will visit and engage residents who have recently moved into the Regent Villa Social Housing Project in Weltevreden Valley, Mitchells Plain.
Regent Villa, which has a budget of just over R 41 million, has a total of 104 units, with 32 units (30%) allocated to the primary beneficiaries earning between R 1500.00 and R 5500.00 per month, and 72 units (70%) allocated to the secondary beneficiaries earning between R 5501.00 and R 15000.00 per month. Construction commenced in March 2019, and to date, 77 units have already been handed over.
Minister Simmers said: “This development is yet another demonstration of how the Western Cape government is ensuring that affordable housing opportunities are created for our residents. I am very pleased that the Western Cape now has the greatest number of social housing projects in the country.”
These homes will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of our people and I’m looking forward to meeting those residents that have already moved in.”
