MEC Tertuis Simmers engages Greater Retreat Housing Project stakeholders, 16 Sept

Tomorrow, 16 September 2020, Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers will engage relevant the Ward Councillors, sub-council and super Project Steering Committee (PSC) of the Greater Retreat Housing Project.

Accompanied by the Department’s senior executive officials, a status report and update of the planned development will be provided.

Minister Simmers said: “I’m looking forward to this critical engagement, and to reassure the stakeholders of our commitment to continue with this development. We will also clarify timelines, particularly since the budget cuts and covid had a major impact on all housing projects throughout the province.”

Greater Retreat, which includes Wards 62, Ward 63, Ward 65, Ward 66, Ward 67, Ward 68, Ward 72 and Ward 110, is a mixed-use development project and will consist of Breaking New Ground (BNG) or free houses, Community Residential Units (CRU), Rental- and Social Housing, Open Market and Finance Linked Individual Subsidy Programme (FLISP). The project is currently in its planning phase, which includes various investigations and assessments. Various amenities such as schools and recreational facilities will also form part of this development.
