MEC & Police Commissioner to answer to Committee on rise of cash-in-transit heists and violence in Gauteng

Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane and Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Deliwe de Lange will on Friday, 8 June 2018 appear before the Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety.

The Committee will engage both the MEC and the Police Commissioner on progress made to date on reported cases of crime, violence against women and children, as well as plans to deal with increasing incidents of cash-in-transit heists in Gauteng.

Close to 100 cash-in-transit heists have taken place in Gauteng over the past 9 months, which is a worrying state for the Committee. The Committee is also concerned by the rise in reported cases of violence against women and children in the Province.
