MEC Kholwane to recognise exemplary community volunteers and public servants

MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Mr Sikhumbuzo Kholwane will tomorrow (8 December 2017) confer awards to outstanding volunteers and civil servants who represented their community well during 2017 year.

This annual event which is organized and hosted by Izwelethu Development Trust is aimed to recognise hardworking citizens who through their dedication to public duty contributed to social justice within the community of Matsulu.

“We are a development oriented entity which is grounded on developing and growing the stature of young people to be credible servant leaders in public and community service”

“This organisational orientation places an obligation on us to also recognise individuals and groups that demonstrated service excellence, lived up to the expectations of society and upheld the values of community centrism”, said MEC Kholwane.

The awards will be given in six categories which are health; education; sports; emergency medical services; social development; and safety and security.

The overall winner stands to walk away with more than R10 000 and other price during the night of local legends.

During the past eight (8) years, Izwelethu Development Trust provided bursaries to underprivileged students, assisted in building homes for the needy, and donated hundreds of school uniforms and sports attire to tens of citizens in Matsulu as part of the contribution to the vision of an inclusive society.
