MEC Qedani Mahlangu visits school for children with special needs, 14 Jan

The Gauteng MEC for Health, Qedani Mahlangu will tomorrow, 14 January 2015, visit the Nuwe Hoop School in Tshwane as part of the School Readiness Programme to ensure that teaching and learning commences on the first day of school.

This initiative, Bana Pele (Putting Children First), by Gauteng government aims to motivate learners to excel in their studies and to improve access to education in all communities.

Nuwe Hoop is a school for children with special needs. It focuses on children with cerebral palsy, physical disabilities and children with traumatic brain injuries as well as learners with specific barriers to learning.

The staff at the school is made up of teachers, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, school nurse, general assistants and class facilitators.
