MEC Pauline Williams leads walk-about Use Public Transport to Work campaign, 17 Oct

NC Transport MEC “Takes Public Transport to Work” to Promote Public Transport in the Province

The Northern Cape MEC responsible for Transport, Safety and Liaison Ms Pauline Williams will tomorrow lead the “Use Public Transport to Work” campaign in an effort to promote Public Transport in the Province.

The campaign forms part of the Department’s effort in promoting various modes of transport during their October Transport Month projects.  Public Transport is seen as one of the more affordable options when it comes to travelling and remedies in reducing traffic.  

MEC will use the opportunity to engage with commuters and the taxi driver during her taxi ride and get views from commuters’ on their daily commute experiences.  The day will also include a facilities walk-about and further engagements with commuters, taxi drivers and owners along with hawkers at a local taxi rank in Kimberley.  

She will be joined by the Provincial Chairperson of Santaco, Mr Zwane Nkonki, Head of Department, Mr Moeketsi Dichaba and Senior Management of the Department in using public transport on various routes across Galeshewe and Kimberley to get to work.
